What we can't take

These need a licensed hazardous-waste handler. Call us anyway — we'll point you to the right drop-off in your town.

  • Paint, stains, solvents
  • Chemicals and pesticides
  • Gasoline, oil, propane tanks
  • Asbestos
  • Medical waste and needles
  • Fluorescent tubes
  • Car batteries
  • Ammunition and fireworks

Where it goes

About 60% of what we pick up never sees a landfill. Furniture, clothing, and working appliances go to Long Island donation partners, and you get the donation receipt. Metal, cardboard, and electronics are sorted at the truck and sent to recyclers. Everything else goes to a licensed Suffolk County transfer facility.

Want something specific donated instead of recycled? Tell the crew and they'll set it aside.

Not sure if we take it? Ask.
